A McHenry County Sheriff’s officer has been issued a citation for parking in a spot reserved for people with disabilities.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the situation, which occurred Saturday, when photos of a squad car parked in the reserved spot surfaced online, according to an official statement.
“This is unacceptable behavior that is against our policy and procedures, unless responding to a call,” the sheriff’s department said in an official statement posted to its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.
The office conducted an internal investigation and ultimately ordered the deputy to attend sensitivity training in addition to unspecified “internal discipline,” the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
“The Sheriff’s Office expects all of its employees to comply with the same laws and statutes as the public,” according to the release. “The Sheriff’s Office continues to faithfully serve the community, promoting the safety and protection for all.”
