McHenry seeking replacement after alderwoman resigns

McHenry has a vacancy on its City Council after 4th Ward Alderwoman Bobbi Baehne resigned because she is relocating to the 2nd Ward.

"I am moving unexpectedly into town," she said. "There is nothing wrong, nothing is going on. ... I will likely run for office again in the next local election."

Anyone who is older than 18, has lived within the 4th Ward boundaries on the west side of McHenry for more than a year and is a registered voter may submit a letter of interest and qualifications to Mayor Wayne Jett by emailing wjett@cityofmchenry.org.

Personal interviews will be conduced with selected candidates, and a recommendation will be made to the council for approval. The replacement would serve the remainder of Baehne's term, which ends in April 2023.

Baehne was part of a slate of candidates Jett hand-picked in the spring elections. Former 4th Ward Alderman Scott Curry opted not to run for reelection, and the race for the seat was uncontested.

Baehne served as head of McHenry's Economic Development Commission. She also is the founder and president of the digital marketing firm Think Big Go Local Inc.

The boundaries of the ward can be viewed by accessing the McHenry Ward app. A link to the app can be found on the city’s website.
