Seven new members will be inducted into the Johnsburg High School Hall of Fame on Feb. 8 at the high school.
Athletes Mike Dombrowski, Colleen Joyce, Sean Kegel, Kate Nobilio and Laura Oeffling, along with former football coach Bob Bradshaw and the 1979 boys basketball team comprise the hall’s third class.
There will be an open house reception at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria during the girls basketball game against Richmond-Burton. The induction is set to happen at 6:30 p.m., with the boys basketball game tipping off at 7.
Dombrowski (2011) and Joyce (1998) were standouts in soccer and basketball. Kegel (1989) excelled in wrestling, Nobilio (2011) was a volleyball standout, and Oeffling was an all-around athlete who competed in basketball, volleyball and track.
Bradshaw is in the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame and led Woodstock to the 1983 Class 4A state championship. Bradshaw’s Johnsburg teams were 49-30 in his eight seasons and coach and went to the playoffs five times.
The 1996 team was the first Johsnburg team to win a playoff game; the 1997 team was the first to win a playoff game. Bradshaw finished his career with a 201-117 record between Woodstock and Johnsburg.
The 1979 basketball team was the first in the school’s history and finished 26-3. The Skyhawks won the Shark Conference and a Class A Regional under coach Bob Kies.
