Pennington was 9 for 12 over four games and knocked in nine runs as the Trojans continued on their hot streak with four victories. Pennington was 3 for 3 in a 4-1 win over St. Charles North, then gave Hampshire’s pitchers fits in three games. He was 3 for 3 with a double, triple and five RBIs in an 11-0 win over the Whip-Purs on Thursday. He then was 2 for 3 with two RBIs in a 16-5 win over the Whips on Saturday and went 1 for 3 with two RBIs Monday as the Trojans beat Hampshire, 8-1.

Chong won the Fox Valley Conference boys tennis title in No. 1 singles. For Chong, a junior, it was his third FVC title, but his first in singles. He defeated Crystal Lake South’s Nick Thome in the championship match. Jacobs won the team title as well.

Humphres had five goals and six assists in three wins for the Skyhawks in the past week. On Saturday, she was involved in all five of the team’s goals, scoring three and assisting on the other two. She didn’t score Tuesday but had two assists, then capped the regular season with two goals and two assists Thursday.

Rummell was the catalyst for Hampshire's perfect week, hitting .789 (15 for 19) out of the leadoff spot with nine extra-base hits. The Whip-Purs went 5-0 and won the Chicagoland Challenge title, scoring 41 runs on 49 hits in three tournament games. The Illinois commit hit five home runs, three doubles and a triple, scoring 15 runs and driving in 12.

Schirmer won the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles at the McHenry County Track and Field Meet over the weekend. The Marengo freshman won the 110 hurdles in 14.83 and the 300 hurdles in 39.96.

Silber scored five goals and recorded three assists in three games last week. The Wolves junior had multiple goals or assists in each game and netted the winner in two of them.

Fuentes has five extra-base hits in his last six games. The senior third baseman delivered the game-winner against McHenry on Tuesday, a two-run homer in the top of the 10th for a 4-2 victory. That homer was Fuentes’ second of the season. He had three hits in the game, three stolen bases and scored twice.

Secor has helped power the Indians – the No. 7 team in the Illinois Coaches Association Class 3A softball rankings – to a 5-1 start with nine hits in her first 16 at-bats. The senior shortstop and four-year varsity player had a team-best five doubles, one homer, five runs scored and five RBIs in wins in the Indians' first four games.

Brown led Woodstock with 16 strikeouts during a 5-0 win over Elgin on Friday. Brown threw a complete game in the shut-out victory. That performance came a few days after Brown scored the go-ahead run against Antioch in the top of the seventh, then came in for the save in the bottom half of the inning. The Blues Streaks won that game 3-2 and finished the week 4-0.

Borhart made the game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds of Marengo's sectional semifinal win over Glenbard South. Borhart scored 15 points and helped the Indians win their first sectional title since 1998.

Volkening scored 26 points in Marengo’s regional semifinal victory over Woodstock, then followed it up with 17 points in a regional title victory over Richmond-Burton. The senior shooting guard has helped the Indians win their second regional title in the past three years.

Sutton (47-3) scored a technical fall and two major decisions to advance to the Class 2A 145-pound final. He defeated Morton's Mikie Hartnett, 7-3, for his first state title. It was the 10th individual title in R-B's history and the fourth in his family (brother Garrett has two and cousin Cameron Kennedy has one).

Petersen (42-4) won his second consecutive IHSA state title with a technical fall and two pins to reach the Class 2A 138-pound championship match. There, he defeated Washington's Blaize Punke, 7-4, for the title.

Baars, a Cary-Grove senior on the PR co-op team, won the IHSA all-around state championship on Friday and helped the Wolves capture their third consecutive IHSA team title on Saturday. Baars scored a 38.075 in the all-around, edging Glenbrook South’s Hannah Hartley (38.025). As a team, PR’s 148.8 bested second-place DeKalb (146.95).

Madsen had a monster game in a 58-44 Kishwaukee River Conference win against Woodstock North, scoring 21 points and hauling in 13 rebounds to lead the Skyhawks. She also chipped in two assists, four steals and a pair of blocks. With the win, the Skyhawks finished 12-0 and completed a perfect season in the inaugural year of the KRC.

Bayer gave Marengo all kinds of trouble Friday in the Rockets’ 57-40 victory, which was the Indians’ first loss in the Kishwaukee River Conference. Bayer scored 32 points in the game and hit 19 of 22 free throws. The 5-foot-10 senior guard, who passed 1,000 career points this season, also hit three 3-pointers in the game. He is averaging 15.7 points a game.

Interrante's six-game streak of 23-plus points was snapped in a 75-53 loss to Rock Island, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 4A, at the DeKalb Martin Luther King Jr. Tournament last week. Also at the tournament, the junior guard dropped 27 points against Lincoln-Way East and 20 points against Plainfield East. She made the all-tournament team, hitting 13 3-pointers in four games.

Ferrante won the 152-pound title at the Sycamore tournament, pinning four of his five opponents and winning the other match by a 6-0 decision. The freshman beat the No. 10 152-pounder in Class 3A in the semifinals by and then pinned the top-ranked Class 2A 152-pounder in the finals.

Clausen averaged 14.8 points and eight rebounds a game for the Red Raiders in the prestigious Montini Christmas Tournament, where Huntley finished 2-2 after an 0-2 start to the tournament. The 6-foot-1 senior forward had 13 points and six rebounds in a 36-31 win over Lake Zurich in the fifth-place consolation game. Against Marian Catholic, she poured in 23 points in a 40-33 victory.

Jacobs' 6-foot-9 senior scored 21 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked seven shots to help the Golden Eagles to a 61-49 win over Prairie Ridge in the championship game of the Hinkle Holiday Classic. Krutwig helped Jacobs win their own tournament for the first time since 2008.

Toussaint continued his scoring tear for the Skyhawks with 50 points as Johnsburg split its two games for the week. Toussaint scored 28 and hit five 3-pointers Dec. 13 in a 95-59 win over North Boone. He came back with 22 points and three threes Saturday in the Skyhawks’ 81-61 loss to Zion-Benton at Jacobs’ Hinkle Holiday Classic. For the season, Toussaint is hitting 42.6 percent on 3-pointers and is averaging 23.9 points per game.

Alsot is giving opposing teams major fits and is one of the most difficult assignments on both ends of the court, averaging a double-double through eight games with 14.3 points and 13.6 rebounds a game. The 6-foot forward scored 20 points with 16 rebounds in a 59-37 Fox Valley Conference win over Crystal Lake Central on Tuesday and had 17 points and 15 rebounds in a 59-37 nonconference win against Woodstock North three days earlier.

Randazzo, a two-time returning state qualifier, got off to a strong start to his junior year. The 132-pounder won all seven of his matches, including five by pin, to help the Hurricanes take first at the Carmel duals.

Jayko made the game-winning field goal to beat Chicago Phillips 23-20 in overtime to advance to the IHSA Class 4A state championship game. Jayko also had two interceptions in Johnsburg's quarterfinal win over Genoa-Kingston seven days earlier.

Wuensch had a match-high 25 assists in Marian Central's IHSA Class 3A state championship game loss to Marian Catholic and ended her four-year varsity career with 2,346 assists, eight away from cracking the state's top-20. The Nevada commit also pounded two kills for the Hurricanes.
