McHenry County College Offers Spring 2018 Credit Classes in Harvard

College-level English, Spanish, Speech, and a U.S. Government class will be offered this spring at Harvard High School. The offerings in Harvard cover the same course content and count toward MCC’s various associate’s degree and certificate programs, said Laura Power, MCC’s interim dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.

“Sometimes transportation and scheduling is an issue for people living further from campus, so we’re trying to offer these high-demand classes in a more convenient location,” she said, adding that the classes are also available in a blended format, which means students attend some evening classes but also complete coursework online from home.

“Earning a degree can mean $30,000 or more per year in income,” Power said. “While not all jobs require a college degree, these days, many require some additional coursework after high school.”

MCC offers classes for professional certification in over 50 career fields, and many of these certificate programs lead to associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. Popular programs include Accounting, Culinary Management, Marketing, Automotive Technology, Nursing, Graphic Design, and Robotics.

You can also get free advice from MCC’s career services office and academic advisors, and MCC also has financial aid experts on staff who can help you navigate the many options available to help you pay for college.

Harvard High School is located at 1103 N. Jefferson Street, and MCC classes in Harvard start Tues., January 16.
