Crystal Lake Central co-op’s Molly Lyne shot 80 to tie for third at Thursday’s Class 2A Harlem Regional at Atwood Homestead Golf Course in Rockford. Central co-op shot 360 as a team and advanced to next week’s sectional with a third-place finish.
McHenry (373) was fourth, and Prairie Ridge (403) took fifth.
Behind Lyne, Renata Petersen shot 81 for Central co-op. Joella Greeley (99) and Abby Rubsam (100) rounded out Central’s top four. Allie Maag had a 105, and Nevin Runge added a 124.
McHenry advanced two golfers: Sarah Fergus (84) and Jocelyn Currie (87). Prairie Ridge’s Elizabeth Tucker (93) also advanced.
Rockford Guilford’s Kayla Sayyalinh (73) won medalist honors. Guilford also won the team title with a 342.
Class 1A Stillman Valley Regional: At PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Johnsburg and Harvard each shot a 397 team score to tie for the third advancing spot. Johnsburg’s fifth individual score (Savannah Prouty’s 113) was better than Harvard’s, so the Skyhawks advance to sectionals.
Johnsburg’s Ellie Johnson shot a 10-over-par 82 to finish in third. Gracie Berthoud (102), Taylor Blake (105) and Hailey Bullamore (108) were Johnsburg’s other top scorers, and Riley Klotz shot 137.
Although not advancing as a team, Harvard advanced three individuals: Emma Ackland (96), Jennah Brookner (97) and Joelle McMillan (99). Marian Central’s Lauren McNulty (84) advanced, as did Richmond-Burton’s Alaina Robinson (99).
Winnebago won the regional with a 392. Rockford Christian’s Emily Kneller (77) won medalist honors.
FVC tournament: At Prairie Ridge in Crystal Lake, Jacobs won all three singles brackets and the No. 1 doubles bracket on its way to the Fox Valley Conference tournament championship. Jacobs won the title with 57 team points. Cary-Grove (54) was second, and Huntley (45) took third.
Jacobs had players reach the final in six of the seven flights. The Golden Eagles added the tournament hardware to their FVC regular-season trophy, which they won by one point over C-G.
At No. 1 singles, Jacobs’ Chloe Siegfort defeated Huntley’s Ruhi Gulati, 6-0, 6-1, in the title match. C-G’s Kaitlin Warner defeated Prairie Ridge’s Macy Biggam, 4-6, 6-3 (11-9), for third place.
Jacobs’ Kaya Trumbo won the No. 2 singles bracket with a victory over Huntley’s Elaina Hibbeler, 6-1, 6-1, in the title match. The Golden Eagles completed the singles sweep with a win at No. 3 from Lara Santa Ines, 6-4, 6-0, over Crystal Lake Central’s Silvia Teruel.
At No. 1 doubles, Jacobs’ Lindsay Cunningham and Isha Desai defeated C-G’s Alina Krembuszewski and Karina Los, 6-1, 6-0, in the final. Huntley’s Michelle Barnvos and Kylie Phommasack finished third.
Crystal Lake Central’s Haley Steinberg and Haley Benard won the No. 2 doubles title over C-G’s Olivia Schladt and Jenna Briggs, 6-3, 6-4.
At No. 3 doubles, C-G’s Kate Larry and Grace O’Malley defeated Jacobs’ Alison Gerhardt and Sam Seibert, 7-6, 6-3. C-G also had a victory at No. 4 doubles from Chloe Sorensen and Mary Greenwald, 6-1, 6-0, over Jacobs’ Lissie Kontos and Anya Wieczorek.
Crystal Lake Central 4, Dundee-Crown 2: At Carpentersville, Jake Nelson scored twice and had one assist in Central’s FVC win over D-C. The Tigers (9-5-2, 5-3) scored two goals in the second half to break a tie score.
Billy Cummings added a goal and an assist. Brandon Bruski scored the other Tigers goal, assisted by Aidan Hudak. Joey Moore made 10 saves.
Julian Saldana and Roland Dearborn scored goals for D-C (10-7-1, 4-3-1).
Prairie Ridge 4, Burlington Central 2: At Burlington, Michael Thompson scored twice in the Wolves’ FVC victory. Cade Collins and Bennett Barr also scored. Daniel Khoury, Brogan Amherdt, Owen Erickson and Tyus Whitefield recorded assists.
Erickson made three saves for Prairie Ridge (7-6, 3-3). Burlington Central drops to 3-11 and 0-8 in the FVC.
Crystal Lake South 3, McHenry 0: At Crystal Lake, Alex Canfield scored a goal and had an assist in an FVC win for the Gators. Michal Dejworek and Tom Coughlin also scored goals. Colton Weidner added an assist.
Carson Hill made one save for South (12-3-4, 6-0-1). Julian Zarate made two saves for McHenry (7-8-4, 1-6-1), and Logan Freid added one.
Jacobs 2, Cary-Grove 0: At Cary, Liam Armstrong scored two second-half goals, and the Golden Eagles edged the Trojans in FVC play. Preston Krahl recorded the shutout for Jacobs (11-3-3, 7-0).
C-G falls to 5-7-2 and 2-4-2 in the FVC.
Huntley 4, Hampshire 1: At Huntley, Anthony Reyes scored in the game’s first minute, with an assist from Josh Guyer, and Huntley went on to defeat Hampshire in FVC play.
Thomas Rodriguez, Austin Killen and Pierce Abed scored goals for Huntley (8-8-1, 3-4). Sam Bellantuono had two assists, and Dylan Mielke added one assist. Goalkeeper Ethan Kornas made eight saves.
Hampshire drops to 12-7-2 and 3-3-1 in the FVC.
Richmond-Burton 7, Wilmot (Wis.) 0: At Richmond, on senior night, Jacob Maldonado – normally the Rockets’ goalkeeper – scored a hat trick in a nonconference win. Teammate Payton May also had a hat trick. Ethan Demers added the other goal for R-B (15-6).
Hayden Rudkin recorded two assists. Billy Restis, Tommy Griffin, and Tristan Rockwell also had assists. Backup goalkeeper Austin Mazur made three saves in a shutout.
The win marked the end of the regular season for R-B. The Rockets open the Class 1A postseason at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Rockford Christian Regional against either Winnebago or Marengo.
Harvard 2, Bigfoot (Wis.) 1: At Walworth, Wisconsin, Oger Bernal and Manny Mercado scored goals for Harvard in a nonconference win. Aldo Popoca made five saves for the Hornets (8-9-1).
Prairie Ridge 2, Hampshire 0: At Crystal Lake, Prairie Ridge’s Trinity Sheridan had 14 kills and two aces in an FVC win.
Kaylin Mitchell had two aces and three blocks for the Wolves (11-10, 8-6). Hannah Baudin added 20 assists.
Hampshire falls to 9-15-1 and 2-12 in the FVC.
Huntley 2, Jacobs 0: At Huntley, Emma Konie had eight kills for Huntley in an FVC win, 25-12, 25-18. Kylie Jenkins had six kills and nine digs. Taylor Jakubowski contributed 22 assists and four aces for the Red Raiders (19-2, 14-0).
Jacobs falls to 9-10 and 6-8 in the FVC.
Crystal Lake South 2, Burlington Central 0: At Crystal Lake, the Gators won in FVC action, 25-12, 26-24. Lauren Buckley had four aces for South (10-9, 7-7). Mia Regillio had six blocks, and Sam Wesoly had six kills.
McHenry 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, McHenry edged D-C, 25-22, 25-21. The Warriors improve to 20-10 and 6-8 in the FVC.
MacKenzie Field led D-C (6-14, 3-11) with eight kills, while Makena Wesol added seven kills and six digs. Jenna Brown had 23 assists, and Natalia Smiech contributed 11 digs and six kills.
Crystal Lake Tri: At Sage YMCA, Crystal Lake co-op defeated Cary-Grove, 62-33, and Jacobs co-op, 66-28. Cary-Grove defeated Jacobs co-op, 62-32.
Crystal Lake co-op’s Jamie Gindorf won the 200 freestyle (1:58.61) and the 50 free (25.34). Olivia Dannhaus won the 200 individual medley (2:20.65) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.21).
Crystal Lake co-op won the 200 medley relay (1:53.81) with a team of Dannhaus, Gindorf, Madisen Pavoris and Makayla Nietzel. Nietzel and Gindorf teamed up with Maddy Uhl and Abi Zelikman to win the 200 free relay (1:46.22).
Cary-Grove had overall victories from Ayden Donfris in the 100 fly (1:03.05) and from Emily Marks in the 100 free (58.16). Donfris, Marks, Molly Gilbert and Elizabeth Fournier teamed up to win the 400 free relay (3:54.37).
Jacobs co-op had victories from Jenny Tokarz in the 500 free (5:27.39) and Kate Trembly in the 100 backstroke (1:04.15).
Huntley 122, McHenry 48: At Huntley, the Red Raiders defeated the Warriors. McHenry’s Julia Finch won the 500 freestyle (5:56.04).
