High school sports roundup for Friday, Nov. 22

The girls swimming season came to a close for four local competitors Friday at the IHSA Girls Swimming and Diving State Meet preliminaries at New Trier High School in Winnetka.

Jacobs co-op's Jennifer Tokarz finished in 20th place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 7.51 seconds. Tokarz finished in 25th place in the 200 style in 1:55.31.

Crystal Lake Central co-op's Julia Gindorf placed 28th in the 200 freestyle in 1:55.82. She also finished 42nd in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.03.

Huntley's Sydney McGuine took 36th in the 100 backstroke in 58.79 seconds. She came in 42nd in the 50 freestyle in 25.04.

Huntley's Ella Young placed 30th in the 100 butterfly in 57.78.

Central co-op's Makayla Nietzel will try to defend her titles in four events for athletes with disabilities Saturday.


Huntley 51, Hononegah 47: At the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament at Huntley, Kamsi Nwogu scored 20 points to lead the Red Raiders (1-1) over the Indians.

Carley Faulkner added nine points, and Raquel Radermacher scored eight for Huntley.

Boylan 55, Jacobs 36: At the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament at Huntley, Courtney Pahl hit three 3s and scored 11 points to lead the Golden Eagles (1-2) in their loss to the Titans.

Courtney Durben added eight points with a pair of 3s, and Mackenzie Leahy scored seven with one 3.

Palatine 44, Crystal Lake South 38: At the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament in Carpentersville, Emily Rich led the Gators (1-1) with 12 points in a loss to Palatine.

Kree Nunnally pitched in with eight points, Brooke Kuffel had six points, and Ava Sevcik had five points.

Dundee-Crown 54, Streamwood 25: At the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament in Carpentersville, the Chargers (2-0) got 16 points from Arysia Harris and 14 from Alyssa Crenshaw to down the Sabres and remain unbeaten in their own tournament.

Guilford 43, Woodstock 26: At the Burlington Central Thanksgiving Tournament, Emma Brand paced the Blue Streaks in a loss to Guilford.

Theresa Presisto added eight points for Woodstock (0-3), and Erin Lockwood had four points.

South Beloit 52, Alden-Hebron 44: At the Elgin Academy Tournament, the Giants (0-3) couldn't pick up their first win despite 15 points from Rachel Pahl.

Abby Wanderer chipped in 11 points, Karly Strand added seven points, and Korhyn Geary had five points.

Kaneland 56, Richmond-Burton 38: At the Wauconda Thanksgiving Tournament, the Rockets (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season.

Peyton Bannon topped R-B with 12 points, while Hannah Schleibinger and Rachel Baker each had nine points.

Johnsburg 36, Cary-Grove 32: At Johnsburg, Mackenzie Straulin scored 12 points, and Macy Madsen added 11 as the Skyhawks (2-1) defeated the Trojans (2-1) in their nonconference game.

Emily Lukowski led C-G with 13.

Naperville Central 63, Marian Central 32: At the Benet Tipoff Tournament in Lisle, the Hurricanes (0-2) fell to the Redhawks.

Ottawa 29, Harvard 14: At the IMSA Thanksgiving Tournament in Aurora, the Hornets (1-2) lost to the Pirates.
