Cary police obtain arrest warrant in connection with robbery

The Cary Police Department on Wednesday obtained arrest warrants for a 33-year-old Chicago man after his alleged involvement in a store burglary in Cary.

David A. Smith, 33, was identified on social media after being arrested and charged in connection with a similar incident in Chicago.

Arrest warrants for Smith were issued for theft of between $500 and $10,000, a Class 4 felony; possession of burglary tools, a Class 3 felony; criminal damage to property, a Class 4 felony; and a Class A misdemeanor.

Court records indicate that Smith is being held at the Cook County Jail.

Crime Stoppers may authorize a monetary award for information leading to an apprehension.
