To the Editor:
One of the primary agenda items for the radical Left and the Democrat party is the issue of “identity politics.” It should be quite apparent to anyone who has been paying attention to the events of the past month that identity politics is in direct opposition to one of our country’s founding principles – e pluribus unum (out of many, one).
Conservatives do not disagree with the slogan “Black Lives Matter”. We also support the slogan that “Blue Lives Matter.” But unfortunately, if you make the mistake of tweeting “All Lives Matter…Every Single One” you run the risk of being fired from your 32-year career as the announcer for the Sacramento Kings basketball team.
Grant Napear had been the Kings’ announcer since 1988, and somehow his tweet was deemed to be politically incorrect.
The Democrat party constantly panders to sub-segments of our country’s citizens. It should be quite obvious that this tactic simply divides us into separate camps, and then pits those factions against each other.
Our country is reaping what the Democrat party has sown – rioting and looting, the toppling of historical monuments, and ongoing attempts to try to erase or “re-spin” our country’s history to fit a “politically correct” narrative. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently said that tearing down America’s historic statues and monuments is a healthy expression of rage. Seriously?
The agenda that the Democrat party is peddling is an existential threat to the well-being of our country. It is time to finally reject the “identity politics” agenda and instead continue to discuss, debate, and seek solutions that will serve to advance the general welfare of the country as a whole.
