Letter: Our political system must be fixed

To the Editor:

Watching the news and reading the news, the parts about all the killing, destroying, looting and the lack of respect for anything I am trying to see the difference between what is going on in our country and ISIS. Really, is there a difference?

ISIS just wants to kill. Look at Chicago. There were 79 killed and 444 wounded for a total of 523 shot and that's just for June. Get rid of monuments and destroy them. ISIS loves doing this but it's happening right here in the U.S.. Eliminate and destroy all history so there is nothing to look back on.

Yep, another love affair of ISIS and we are doing the same here in our country. There use to be respect for authority, no matter the authority, but now there is none. It's all gone. So where did it go? Who is to blame?

Right now, there is so much blame to go around that I think we are past when we can straighten out the mess. I am beginning to think we are past the point of no return. We need leaders, both Republicans and Democrats, who can and will work with each other.

Work for the people and not any party. What we have is not working and hasn't for at least 20 years. And things like ISIS are not the answer. We spent billions getting rid of ISIS and then we do the same thing here. Oh, how stupid.
